Microchipping is a simple procedure that enables your pet to be identified should he/she become lost or stolen. The microchip is implanted under the skin in the neck by a one-off injection. The chip contains an unique individual identification number which is then stored along with your contact details on a national database. Once animals are found and scanned they can be quickly reunited with their owners.

Implanting a microchip is just like giving your pet an injection into the skin of the neck. A unique Tracer code is linked to the national 24-hour Petlog database. When your pet is found most vets, animal charities and local dog homes will have a scanner and be able to read the Tracer microchip and find you pet’s details with Petlog so that you have every chance of being reunited with your pet really quickly.
In Wales from 1st March 2015 it will become compulsory to have your dog microchipped.
