Associate Veterinary Surgeons

Dinika Dhir BVSc MRCVS

Dinika graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 2008 having gained a varied amount of experience in mixed practice as well as spending time working on a game reserve in Africa. After graduating she spent time travelling through India before joining the practice in March. Dinika is one of our mixed practice vets with a keen interest in equine. She enjoys outdoor activities in her spare time.

Jozef Antal MVDr MRCVS

Jozef’s veterinary qualification was obtained in 2004 in his native Hungary. He has gained experience in the UK and North America and joins us to concentrate on equine and farm animal work. He has a special interest in the treatment of animals using acupuncture.

Steven Holland BVSc MRCVS

Steven joined our small animal team at the start of last year. He graduated from Bristol in 2008 and has a keen interest in furthering his qualifications in the field of diagnostic imaging.

Amanda Williams BVsc MRCVS

Amanda has a dairy farming background and graduated from Bristol University in 2008. She was employed at a large veterinary hospital before joining us to pursue her career in small animal medicine.

Gareth Watkins BVetMed MRCVS

Gareth joined us last summer, having recently qualified from the Royal Veterinary College. He performs mixed duties at the practice, which allow him to explore his particular interests in farm animal reproduction and fertility work, and small animal cardiology. Gareth will already be familiar to many of our clients, as, for several years, he saw practice with us while completing his studies. In his spare time, he enjoys many outdoor activities, and is a keen cricketer and footballer.

Bob Stevenson BVMS CertPM MRCVS

Bob graduated from Glasgow in 1966 and has remained involved in all aspects of mixed practice since then. He gained an additional qualification in pig medicine in 1983 and maintains his fascination with the species. He was appointed president of the Pig veterinary society in 1993 and subsequently elected president of the BVA (British Veterinary Association), representing 10,000 vets during the BSE saga. Having retired in 2004 he remains consultant to the practice and has been elected as WVA European councillor. He is currently chairman of AMTRA (animal medicine training and regulatory authority) and the consultant to the British Pig Association.

Graham SmithBSc BVSc MRCVS

Graham came to Usk after the Foot and Mouth epidemic of 1966, when there were just four vets. He has assisted in the development of the practice to its present size of eleven vets working from three centres, concentrating latterly on horse and farm animal work. He has a special interest in the treatment of racing pigeons and is well respected throughout South Wales in this field. For many years he has also provided advice and guidance to several local councils as an Inspector of riding stables, kennels, catteries and other pet establishments.

Hilary Jones MA Vet MB MRCVS

Hilary graduated from Cambridge in 1994 and joined the practice shortly afterwards. Having found a local farmer to marry, like so many she has been with us ever since. She is a capable all rounder and is experienced in all aspects of mixed practice. Furthermore, she has particular interests in preventative health care and medicine of sheep.
