Farm Care
IN HOUSE LABORATORY
The laboratory at the Usk surgery allows us to analyse blood and urine samples. We can also routinely perform faecal analysis to detect causes of diarrhoea, which include worm egg counts. This allows us to advise you on the correct treatment of your stock and, done regularly, can provide the basis of a worming strategy. Farmers have a duty to report sudden unexplained death in cattle so that they may be checked for anthrax before the carcass is removed. Since this is paid for by Defra, it allows you a free veterinary visit.
